The Catholic Charities Housing Office emergency shelters focus on assisting the clients to creat a new lifestyle. The shelters continue to enhance the quality services they provide for the men and women.

Changing Lifestyles in the homeless shelters via:

Cooperate Extension: Budgeting, smart shopping, Cooking to stay healthy. Facilitated by Kim Hall (weekly)

Capital District African American Coalition on AIDS: PEER leadership development program. (weekly)

New York State Aids Council: 4 to 6 weeks workshop prevention, intervention, self awareness, life choices, self esteem, learning to take charge of our lives etc. Facillitated by Loretta Blitsen

Spirituality: Getting in touch with the beauty within. Facillitated by Sally Maclachlan alternate week Sandy Williams (weekly)

Arts and Crafts: therapeutic approach from ashes to something, women learn to draw, crochet and paint facillitated by Pat Pasternak (Twice a month)

Writing workshop: facillitated by SUNY students (Once a month)

The community has embraced the shelters year around with special get togethers with the clients such as: Pepsi Arena and the Palace Theater donating tickets for shows also Individuals, colleges, churches, Banks, Corporations and companies from the tri-cities have donated next to new clothing for men and women in the shelters and CCHO single resident occupancy housing.

Starting again with love: The tricities community has been very generous in donating furniture and household items assisting individuals and families to furnish their apartments.
